Top Favourite Foundations

Hey everyone!! We are so excited to have another beauty post for you guys! We are both obsessed with makeup and trying out new things. One of our favourite parts of makeup is the face – specifically foundation!!! Over the years between the both of us we have tried dozens of foundations and have found our holy grail products we will always love and use. No matter what new product we use, we’ll always find ourselves going back to these – you’re always guaranteed to have a flawless finish. We have recommended and used these foundations on all our family and friends – with so many different skin types the results always look incredible. Diorskin Nude Foundation

Okay so, this foundation has been a love for years! This is a foundation that feels fairly light on the skin, while providing a light to medium coverage, proving to actually be quite buildable depending on your desired look. It gives a radiant glow to the skin, with a dewy finish that is perfect for those summer days when you want a little something to even out your skin tone but don’t want to look or feel like you’re wearing tons of makeup. It’s totally one of those foundations that gives that “second skin” look- which we love on days where we want to wear something but don’t feel like wearing anything too heavy. However, this is a foundation that for us (oily skin girls), creases, so we both would recommend using a powder to set it to ensure that this doesn’t happen! This has an SPF of 15, which is also great in the summer months but just in general to provide some protection from the sun even when wearing makeup. This is definitely a foundation that doesn’t hide the imperfections on the skin, so if you’re someone that likes fuller coverage all of the time, than this most likely isn’t for you. The shade range isn’t amazing on this foundation, so if you do plan on trying it be careful that you may not get a perfect match.  However, it truly is an amazing foundation that looks beautiful and natural on the skin and when applied, lasts for hours on end (we’ve worn this to clubs and it hasn’t done us wrong lol).

DiorForever Foundation

OMG! This product is a new love and find (newest ride or die lol). After the first use, it quickly became a favourite and go to foundation. There has been so much hype over this product over the last year or so and it sure does live up to all the reviews and more. This is a long wearing foundation (it lives up to the claim – when it’s time to wash your face in the night your makeup looks exactly the same as it did when you put it on in the morning!!). It leaves a matte but luminous finish which is perfect for all skin types. It literally blurs out any imperfections, texture and pores you may have! It claims to be a medium coverage however it is very buildable and can be easily worn as full coverage. You literally don’t feel like you’re wearing make-up (to the point where you go to rub your face and forget you’re wearing a full face of foundation lol). The Dior Skin Nude has been a foundation we both have been using for many years now and love – however do find a major difference between that foundation and this one. If you’re someone debating between the two and only want to purchase one high end foundation, we would recommend asking for samples of both prior to making your purchase. Even though this is a new love, it will definitely continue to be a top favourite for years to come.

Dior Airflash Foundation

This foundation we mentioned in our Best 17 of 2017 blog post, you can read the post here. As we said before… this foundation is incredible!! We just seem to love any Dior product we’ve tried lol. It is on the pricier side, but worth every penny – just for the convenience alone (we have to admit…we’re a little lazy sometimes when it comes to getting ready). This foundation has been a favourite for many years now. This foundation is perfect for any type of coverage you want – its super buildable and full coverage, while leaving your skin natural and flawless looking. It’s very easy to apply – you have the option to spray the product directly on your skin (which does waste more product) or spray it onto a foundation brush first and apply it that way. It leaves your skin literally looking flawless and perfect, due to its lightweight consistency it doesn’t settle into any lines or imperfections on your skin! We’ve used this foundation ever since we were younger teens and have used it on more mature skin – regardless the finish has always been so beautiful and worked well with all skin types.

Josie Maran Vibrancy Foundation

This foundation is perfect for when you want a medium to full coverage look – yet still want to achieve a dewy, glowing, and vibrant appearance. This foundation is amazing, especially during the warmer months for day to day wear or when you want a fuller coverage looking without feeling caky or heavy on the skin. Your skin appears super healthy and glowy all day long – never looking oily or overdone. Not only does the product allow your skin to appear healthy and vibrant – it doubles as a skincare product that actually hydrates, moistures, clams irritated skin and correct the tone – all in one! Who doesn’t want a foundation that works all day long to improve your skin?! This product is very breathable and can be worn on its own or set with powder. We both personally prefer to set all our foundations with powder and experience the same luminous finish. This is the perfect foundation for all ages! If you have younger skin it works to enhance your youthful glowing appearance by creating just the right amount of coverage. If you have more mature skin this will help you achieve a radiant vibrant look without settling into any fine lines or pores. Even though this foundation has a dewy finish it works for all skin types whether you have dry, oily, or combination skin!!

Lancôme Teint Miracle Foundation

This has been a favourite foundation for years! Much like the Diorskin Nude, the look and finish of this foundation is very similar. If you’re looking for a foundation that will provide radiance and a dewy and natural finish, while still providing good coverage, then this is definitely something to try!! This is one of those “lit from within” foundations that gives that luminous look to the skin. It instantly brightens your complexion and is such a thin, smooth, and blendable formula. It provides hydration on the skin and doesn’t accentuate dry patches. However, for oily skin, this means having to ensure you set with a powder and be careful when using a luminous foundation (we know sometimes people oily skin and glowy/hydrating foundations don’t mix). Also, we’ve noticed that this is a foundation that oxidizes (changes colour after application), so we recommend you be cautious when choosing a shade or get a sample to see how the colour and formula works for you. This a great foundation for those days where you want to wear something, but still want to achieve that natural look!

L’Oréal True Match Foundation

This is a great drugstore foundation where the price is right, especially if you’re not looking to spend too much on a foundation!! This is described to be a lightweight and natural finish foundation, which is exactly what it is. Like Estee Lauder, the colour range is categorized based on warm, cool, and neutral tones, making the colour selection process a little easier in our opinion. It also has SPF 17 in it, which again, is great for when you’re outside or if you’re looking for your foundation to do a little more than just cover/even out your complexion. Also, this is a great foundation to mix with others. If your expensive/high-end foundation is just a little too dark or light for you, then using a less expensive foundation such as this to mix with it, is great. Due to the consistency (light and liquid but still creamy enough), this is great to pair with thicker or thinner foundations to also alter the consistency if you wish. From experience, although this is said to provide a light to medium coverage, we feel like it’s totally buildable. This a great foundation if you’re on a budget, and want something that won’t be too heavy on the skin while still giving natural radiance and coverage!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation

Okay we are about to get REAL…. If there is literally one foundation in this entire world that either of us could chose to wear for the rest of our lives, it’s this!!! No joke, we have both been using this since grade 11 high school days (so like 4 years), and it’s truly the best. Now, this is definitely for people who like full coverage. If you’re looking for something that is light on the skin, then this isn’t it. However, in saying that, this isn’t a foundation that is super cakey or looks like you’re wearing tons of makeup. It just provides a more medium to fuller coverage than others (but nothing like Marc Jacobs Remarcable or Kat von D Lock It Tattoo) and it’s totally buildable if the first application isn’t enough. It is also one of the longest wearing foundations we’ve ever tried…. I mean they do claim that it’s supposed to last for 24 hours but it literally does. This foundation doesn’t rub off and doesn’t budge (of course we always take the necessary steps to ensure that like setting our foundation with powder, but still). It’s also an oil-free foundation with a matte finish, however you can always use illuminating primers and similar products as such to give a bit more of a satin finish. They also have a good shade range, categorizing the shades in cool, warm, and neutral tones to hopefully find the best fit and undertone for varying skin colours. Also, it’s at a pretty decent price range, definitely not as expensive as Dior but not a “cheap” foundation either when comparing prices with other brands. In terms of flashback, it doesn’t give too much of a white case although you should always be careful when setting it with certain kinds of powders! All in all, this is an amazing foundation that combines several different aspects that we both personally look for in a foundation, to create this gem!
